Langtang Region
Valleys, Glaciers, and Sacred Lakes
Trekking in Nepal's Langtang Region
The Langtang region is one of the most accessible trekking regions from Kathmandu, yet it feels world away from the busy city. This beautiful region offers a perfect combination of natural beauty, rich culture, and adventure.
Home to the Tamang people, whose Tibetan-influenced culture is reflected in their monasteries, prayer flags, and warm hospitality, the Langtang Valley is often called the "Valley of Happiness." The region includes Langtang National Park, which protects endangered species like the red panda and Himalayan black bear.
Trekking highlights include the scenic Langtang Valley with its glaciers and yak pastures, the sacred Gosainkunda Lake at 4,300m, and magnificent views of Langtang Lirung (7,227m) and other peaks. The relatively short drive from Kathmandu makes this region ideal for trekkers with limited time.
