This isolated region, also known as the "Forbidden Kingdom," was not open to foreign trekkers until 1992 and has preserved its unique Tibetan culture and pristine landscapes.

Mustang is culturally connected to Tibet while being part of Nepal, featuring dramatic desert landscapes, deep canyons, ancient cave dwellings, and red mountains that contrast sharply with the green valleys of central Nepal. Lo Manthang, Mustang's capital, is a treasure trove of medieval Tibetan architecture.
