Trekking in India

Kashmir

Kashmir is the northernmost geographical region of the indian subcontinent . the term "Kashmir" denoted only the kashmir valley between the great himalayas and the pir panjal range. Today, it denotes a larger area that includes the Indian-administered territory of jammu and kashmir (which includes the region of jammu kashmir valley ladakh and siachen), the Pakistani-administered territories of azad kashmir and gilgit_ baltistan, and Chinese-administered territories of aksai chin  and the trans_karakoram.

The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek offers a window into the enchanting World of the Alpine Lakes of Kashmir which are more than a 1000 in number.  The Trek takes one through the Alpine Country above the Sind Valley in the Western Himalayas. This area has a number of beautiful Alpine Lakes and it offers great views of the Mountains. Much before it became a known Trekking area it has been used for thousands of years by the pastoral Gujjars and the Bakarwals as the summer grazing ground.
